A year later ILM was requested by Paramount to hand over their models made for First Contact, amongst them the Yeager, to Digital Muse in preparation for use in the upcoming DS9 episode "Sacrifice of Angels". The model was rendered as a computer-generated visual effect and built by Larry Tan and Paul Theren. The Saber-class starship was designed by Alex Jaeger at ILM. The discrepancy most likely results from an editing error in the DS9 TM. With a crew of 40m the lower size would be consistent with simliar sized Birds of Prey and Defiant class escorts. Some RPG sources put the length at 160 to 170 metres, with the beam being the same as the length.
Notwithstanding the Technical Manual, Visual Effects Supervisor David Stipes stated to length of 190.5 is generally used onscreen. Many Saber class vessels fought in the Dominion War. Four Saber class vessels were assigned to the Starfleet Corps of Engineers in 2370.
